While the iceberg itself is tackled in my book,\u00a0<\/span><em style=\"color: #000000;\"><a style=\"color: #999999;\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aerialdancing.com\/shop-detail.php?ItemID=45&amp;ItemCatID=5\">The Aerial Teacher\u2019s Handbook<\/a><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, I wanted to help you out with a tip of the cold rock here. Let&#8217;s\u00a0outline a few core principles:<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><!--more--><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">1. \u00a0Be consistent across multiple instructors.<\/strong><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How do you get teachers with varying styles to operate on the same\u00a0page? \u00a0If you have inconsistencies in your studio, start with a faculty\u00a0meeting expressing the purpose of consistency. \u00a0Every teacher should\u00a0focus on specific concepts and skills within a specific level (particularly\u00a0level 1 which has the largest population). \u00a0This ensures that the level 2\u00a0instructor knows what the students have achieved in level 1, so they\u00a0don\u2019t have to backtrack (which is a must for safety, but not good for\u00a0retaining higher level students). \u00a0Once you have established the purpose\u00a0or the why, move into the how (see nos. 2-3).<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">2. \u00a0Make levels transparent for students.<\/strong><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What skills or concepts should be addressed in each level for your\u00a0particular student population? \u00a0How do you communicate levels to\u00a0students effectively? \u00a0And how do you enforce student registrations so a\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">level 1 student doesn\u2019t sign up for a level 3 drops class? \u00a0Answer all of\u00a0these questions on paper (with staff input if desired). \u00a0Then make an\u00a0action plan to implement your decisions.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">3. \u00a0Use advancement procedures that work.<\/strong><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How does a student advance to the next level? \u00a0How do they prove they\u00a0are ready to handle a more demanding class? \u00a0Every studio needs a clear\u00a0way for students to demonstrate what they can do before a skilled\u00a0instructor who approves whether or not they can move to another level. \u00a0Write your advancement procedures on paper and store them in the\u00a0faculty handbook.<\/span><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><br style=\"color: #000000;\" \/><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">4.
